Job Summary

We’re looking for trustworthy CDL drivers to transport goods from various shippers to destinations east of the Rocky Mountains.

As one of our drivers, you’ll have the opportunity to see and visit locations across the country. You’ll enjoy freedom and independence on the road and get a taste of the local flavor everywhere you go.

Job Responsibilities

• Adhere to traffic safety regulations and all laws at all times while on the job.
• Represent Berry Transportation professionally and communicate with customers and their staff respectfully.
• Exercise caution in treacherous circumstances and report unsafe vehicle or road conditions.
• Perform safety checks for brakes, steering column, lights, and mirrors prior to each leg of your journey to ensure road readiness and compliance.
• Follow and maintain loading protocols, using chains and binders to secure cargo and re-checking their stability throughout trips.
• Perform additional “secure load” protocols when required.
• Inspect trailers before and after loading, paying attention to the status of the air lines and jack positions, adjusting as necessary.
• Document hours accurately using electronic logs.
• Count product during loading and unloading.
• Assist in unloading cargo when delivery sites are understaffed.
• Use GPS to stay informed of route information.
• Communicate with the office staff as needed.

Required

• High School Diploma or GED
• Current Class A CDL
• Two (2) or more years experience working as a CDL driver with no legal or safety incidents on record.
• No more than 2 moving violations in the past 3 years.
• Must be 23 years of age or older.
• Must pass a drug screening.
• Must pass a background check.

Preferred

• Completion of a professional truck driving educational program
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
• At least 1 year of Flatbed trailer experience.
